The majority of the
Maronite people inhabited towns and villages in Mount Lebanon, dominating
Tripoli and Beirut and facing the West.... These
contiguous or neighboring regions formed a strategic
triangle, which guaranteed the security of the Maronites and
constituted the principal center of their religious and national lives.
