Toula Toula is a village situated in a green beautiful valley on the western slope of mount Makmel. In 1849 it counted 300 males living in 68 houses. These figures imply that Bhairet Toula was counted with Toula. In 1988, it counted 947 registered persons and 1152 registered in 1998. Nearly half the registered are now living abroad as emigrants. 16 of them had cut their relations with their motherland although their names are still in the records. (List below) Education: The first school opened by the mid of the 19th century. The teachers were the priests and their salary was 800 turkish piasters. The first teacher priests were: Arsenius from Mahmarsh (17 years), Estephane Al-Hasrouni (1875-1887), Youhanna Younis from Hmeis (1887-1890), Yaacoub Shbat from Mazraat Toufah (1890-1892), Khali Jilwan (1892-1899), Abdallah Barakat (1899-1905), Antonios Sarkis Zadeh (1905-1910) Gerges Wakim Younis (1910-1914). After WW I war, the government sponsored the school and some of the teachers were: Rouhana Lattouf from Basloukit (1919-1922), Youssef Farhat (1923-1924), Hanna Boulos Jilwan (1925-1929), Badih Jilwan and Doumit Shbat from Mazraat Al Toufah. In the early 1950ies there was two schools: the official public school (teachers: Antoine Qozhaya, Hanna Seb'elani, Fr. Antoun Shbat) and the Archdiocese school (teachers: Fr. Boutros Saad, Elisabeth Jilwan, Odette Barakat). Due to the fact that the village was becoming more and more less inhabited in winters, the schools closed down by the end of the 1950ies Administration: The first municipality was implemented in 1951. In 1963, the municipal council was formed as follows: President: Nawfal Saad Members: Ramez Barakat, Lattouf Saad, Youssef Saad, Nasif Safi, Asia Jilwan, Mousa Daher, Antonios Shahla. In 1998, 7 members, out of 15 candidates, along with two from Aslout, were elected to form a municipal council: Emile Safi (President), George Farah (Vice President), Sarkis Jelwan, Michel Younis, Antoine Daher, Hanna Nkoula, Sayed Saad. The elected Mukhtar: Hamid Semaan Saad. The names below are for emigrants, born after 1898, that left the country in the first half of the 20th century and didn't report back In the first column are the numbers of official citizens records.

Bhairet Toula Bhairet Toula is a village situated down in the vicinity of "Horsh Ehden", the nature reserve, on the western slope of mount Makmel. In 1988, it counted 961 registered persons and 1057 registered in 1998. Nearly half the registered are now living abroad as emigrants. 24of them had cut their relations with their motherland although their names are still in the records. (List below) Education: The first school was inaugurated by the priest Youssef Yazbeck from Aslout in the year 1883. He was succeeded by the following teaching priests: Semaan Germanos from Aslout, Boulos Dahman and his son Mikhaiil, Antonios Gebran (12 years)… In 1944, the Archdiocese opened a school that was replaced in the mid 1950ies by the public school that closed down in 1974. Administration: In 1998, a first municipal council of 9 members was formed. Out of the 15 candidates, the elected members for the council were: Adel Dghaim (President), Michel Barakat (Vice President), Jelwan Jelwan, Antoine Jelwan, Youssef Sheet, Joseph Assaad, Badawi Dib, Antoine Ghabash, Nabil Gebran. The elected Mukhtar: Mikhaiil Dghaim.
