Kfarhata Kfarhata: Eastern suburb to the town of Zgharta. In Kfarhata live the Shmer family that ruled the Zawieh in the 17th and part of the 18th century. In 1555, Kfarhata counted 22 males. In 1849, 72 males were counted and the number of houses was 22. In 1906, 200 males were counted. In 1988, 1109 persons were registered in the official records and they increased to 1330 in 1998. There is a high rate in emigration among the Christian community and 89 persons have not reported back since they went away. (List on the right in yellow) Education: In the early 1940ies a school was opened in Kfarhata and of the teachers, Father Boutros Nakad from Kfardlakos and George Aoun. In 1959 the Archdiocese sponsored the school that lasted till the year 1976. Some of the teachers in that time were: Shaiban Saadeh from Asnoun, Alice Shehab from Fiih, Norma Al-Hosri from Zgharta, Lamia Mardini from Ardeh, Farideh Al-Shmer and Kronflah Jibra'il from Bnash'i. Administration: Imagine a municipal council formed and elected by people not living in the area, just because they are registered in the records of the village. Out of the 9 members that form the council, the president and 4 other members do not live or ever lived or ever owned anything in the lovality. The majority of the listed voters come to Kfarhata occasionally only on election days. This is a unique situation in the whole country. In May 1998, the first municipal elections since the 1960's took place. The municipal council of 9 members is formed of: Khodr Khodr (President), Saadeh G. Saadeh (Vice President), Joseph Shmer, Antoine Al-Kolaa, Sarkis Ishak, Diab Zahaf, Rasoul Shebli, Ahmad Salloum, Khodr Hassoun. The elected Mukhtar: Sheikh Nasif Al-Shmer.
