Kfardlakos
Kfardlakos means the village whose fruits ripen late. This village is situated to the east of Zgharta at an altitude of 125m.
Demography: During the 16th century, it was a small community counting 10 Christian taxpayers (adult males) and 10 Muslim taxpayers. In 1849 it counted 75 males in 19 houses. At the beginning of the 20th century, silk production flourished in this village which witnessed a population growth. There were 200 males in 1906. In the census of 1932, Kfardlakos counted 80 houses.
It is now considered as a suburb to the town of Zgharta. Kfardlakos has a high rate of emigration and many emigrants broke with their homeland. In 1998 there were 1365 registered persons, half of them are living abroad and 127 emigrants did not report back. (List on the right in green)
Education: A public school opened in 1950 and closed down by the mid of the 1970ies. The Archdiocese school that was inaugurated also in 1950 had the same fate.
Administration: In 1998, a new municipal council of 9 members was elected. 18 candidates were running in two oppasite lists of 9 candidates each. The council that resulted is formed of the following members: Youssef Shahid Nakad (President), Jihad Hdayed (Vice President), Joseph Hdayed, Edward Nakad, Tony Hamdar, Joseph Mjalli, Badawi Mjalli, Sarkis Baye'e, Mansour Nakad.
The elected Mukhtar is Ramez Mansour Nakad.
