Beit Awkar stands on the southern slope of the Mount Tourbol at an altitude of 350 m. It is 8 Km from Zgharta. According to the tradition, the village of Beit Awkar has been inhabited since the beginning of the 9^th century.

In 1998 Beit Awkar counted 346 registered, one third live in the village.
