Ejbe' - Aslout

Ejbe' is a very small community west of Ehden at an altitude of 1250 meters, facing the sea and having one beatiful pine hill. This community was once famous because it was inhabited (and still is) once by the Raffoul family who were of the major wealthy families in the district in the 19th century.

In 1988, Ejbe' counted 201 registered persons and 220 in the year 1998. Half of these people are emigrants and some of these emigrants lost contact with their homeland although their names are still on the citizens records (list of names below in yellow). There is no municipal council in Ejbe' but an elected Mukhtar who is now Patrick Sayed Raffoul.

Aslout is another small community highly affected by emigration and which lies down on the slope of Ejbe' pine trees hill. In 1988, Aslout 337 registered persons and in 1998 the number of registered remained 337 persons. More than half of the registered are emigrants, living abroad. Some early emigrants didn't report back but their names are still on the records (list below). Aslout shares a municipal council with the neighboring village of Toula and is represented by two members in the council: Mousa Mehsen Khoury and Milad Sarkis Eid. The elected Mukhtar is Emile Jabbour Bou Mansour.
