The Election of Sleiman Frangie as President of Lebanon

Sleiman Kabalan Frangie was elected president of the Lebanese Republic by a majority of one vote on the 17th of August 1970. Here are some rare pictures taken during the election session on that day in the Lebanese Parliament.

The results of the second election round gave Sleiman Frangie 50 votes and Elias Sarkis 49 votes. The Speaker Sabri Hamadeh tried to discard the one vote majority. Here S. Frangie is listening to the Speaker.
