I came across your site researching on Saliba Douaihy. I own three paintings of his and I was trying to identify the locations portrayed there. When I saw in your site the pictures of Ehden in the 1920’s I had no doubt: one of the paintings is undoubtedly a view of Ehden, with Mar Gerges church, very similar to the foto you show taken from Jabal (mount) Saydet Al Hosn. I have two more paintings which I guess are also from Ehden and I hoped that you could confirm that for me, if that’s possible. Maybe you will recognize the locations, in case they still exist. I got them from my grand-mother, Evelynne Torbey Nader and she told me that they portrayed the painter’s home village, including the house he was born. The three were offered to my grand-father, Aziz Nader, and one of them (Ehden with Mar Gerges) was exhibited in the X Bienal of São Paulo, Brazil, in 1969, representing Lebanon.
