-          The first Lebanese emigrant was officially registered in 1891, the first Syrisn in 1891, the first Palestinian in 1895, the first Arab in 1899, the first Iranian in 1917 and the first Iraqui in 1899.

In 1948, Julian Nasr and Salim Abud realized the first census of various middle eastern emigrant communities and it came as follows:

-         -   Charlotte Franjieh married Antonio Abraham, his real family name was Abdelmasih but because of the difficulty in pronunciation it became Abraham. This how many family names were changed.

  • "I sailed from Beirut when I was 16 years old. The first destination was the port of Marseille. I stayed in Marseille several months during which I assisted arab emigrants and traders because I knew French. This way I managed to keep the 280$ my parents gave me for the journey" Sarkis Jitani.

  • "My father was 18 years old and my mother 14 when they left Zgharta in 1924. They were heading for Philadelphia to meet their relatives, but landed in Havana, Cuba, where they were arrested and assigned to a house for "minors". Finally in 1928, Natalio Lebian and Jose Maccise Lebian arrived in Toluca, Mexico" Raul Lebian Kawi.
